So, with the safety on, we’ll put the tip base on, with the tip turned to its side, like so. I can do it up this way if I wish.
So, by having the tip blanked, if I do accidentally depress the trigger, it’s going to make a mess out here for sure, but it won’t inject me. So, now that I’ve got the tip base, reason be taught, I can turn the tip around ready and spray.
What I don’t do is I don’t grab any sort of shifter to apply more attention to that particular base. It’s only hand tight, only ever hand tight.
So, remember what I said, when it’s around this way, the tip itself, the tip head when it’s pointing with a small end, bout to spray and you can see the tip our office. If I turn around this way, that’s when I get a block. It reverses the tip and clears the back of the tip orifice itself.
So, by turning this back around the appropriate way, safety off, increase the pressure. How much pressure do I need? Because it’s a thin material and plus I’ve added a 5% of solvent for film formation, I don’t want too much pressure. What would too much pressure be, basically like this, will spray easily with 30 to 40 psi over this regulator.
Because I want good atomization and the opportunity to get me off the substrate while I’m spraying, slightly more pressure will make sure that you’ve got a nice good cut from the tip itself when you atomized the material out of here. Also, two more pressure, enables me to stay off the job and I’m not covered in overspray.
The important thing also to remember is that if I wear a hard hat while spraying what happens is the draft which these with the safety on. These particular tip bases are designed to have the draft come through the back of them to help with the fan width and to assist atomization as well.
So, this is these create draft. I’ve seen guys cut these off. It’s just total stupidity primarily because it enables me to put my hand even closer to the tip itself. They are there for a reason. They are designed to do a job. Don’t cut them off. So, remember, only hand tight and with the appropriate amount of pressure on there. What I can do is let the safety off.
Now, if I wonder up there and pull this trigger, all the paint come out. So, what we’ll do now is we’ll talk about the appropriate spray application of this particular material.
