Maintaining Pressure When Running Long Blast Hose

There are many projects which require running a blast hose greater than the typical 65′-130′ (20-40 meters) distance. However, increasing the distance between the pot and nozzle is a known pressure killer; and pressure is critical for productivity and profitability.  Our goal is to help you maintain pressure over long hoses at the same levels you’d experience with shorter lengths.

Increasing Pressure Requires Different Set-ups

The longer the blast hose, the more standard pressure will drop.  On top of that fact, typical 1.5″ or 1.25″ (32mm) hoses coupled together to span longer distances will further choke pressure by the friction the smaller diameters inflict upon the air flow.

The solution is to increase the size of your blast hose to a 2″ (50mm) blast hose. This increase in diameter will allow the air volume and pressure to remain relatively unencumbered from the pot to the operator.

Using this larger size blast hose will allow you to span 250′-350′ (80-100 meters) without the aforementioned pressure restrictions. Run this larger hose all the way up to the whip hose.

Implementing these recommendations will ensure the velocity of abrasive in these longer hose runs will be consistent with shorter set-ups requiring only 65′ (20 meters) of connected hose. This is how you maintain pressure.
