When You Should Use Ultra High Pressure Water Jetting

WHY SHOULD YOU USE ULTRA HIGH PRESSURE WATER JETTING (UHP)?

What is Ultra High Pressure (UHP) water ? UHP water is 29,000 psi and above. In general, you should use UHP water for removal when the coating is thicker.
UHP water is great for 40 mils coatings because the water is able to slice through the coating and remove it from the substrate. This is a better solution compared to abrasive blasting because abrasives have to erode the coating all the way down from the surface.

The possibility of using Ultra High Pressure water becomes distinct when removing abrasion resistant coatings. Examples of abrasion resistant coatings are Glass-Flake Epoxy, Coal-Tar Epoxy, and Chlorinated Rubber.

With UHP water jetting, you will complete the project quicker, reduce the clean-up time and save abrasive.
After you’re finished removing the rust or coating, all that’s left to do is complete a fast whip blast in order to make sure the profile is prepped.
UHP water will deep clean any pollution or contamination on the profile, but it will not ruin any profile on the substrate.

RECOMMENDED UHP APPLICATIONS

Removing rubber linings or any other linings that protect from wear from the inside of the pipes and spools is important.
Scarification of concrete is another recommended UHP application, in order to secure the bond of coatings and overlays that have been applied.
