So, now, that we checked that there’s no damage on this, there’s no scours on the piston, there’s no damage on the end of it, the one thing we need to do now is see how it slides in and out the barrel or the sleeve. So, all you need to do is sit it in like so and check it.
Now, as I mentioned previously, there’s a pin here that we’ve marked — that’s a locating pin. So, what we need to do is just slide that out of there so by pushing it down without hitting it because if you hit it, it’ll shatter. So, we’ve slid it out of the housing.
Now have a look here. You have an O-ring on the bottom of this. So, it’s imperative when you put it back in, you put that O-ring. Replace the new O-ring, comes in a kit, so all that doesn’t, seals it within the housing itself.
So, there’s the locator. There’s the pin. You can’t put it in the wrong way and squash the pin and the whole thing goes together and you’re totally unaware until you start to open the valve to let the grit come through. That hole is obscured by having this in the wrong position. The grit won’t flow through.
So, what we need to check is, how does that slide in and out of there. We see if it slides freely and you’ll find that there’s no slack or chatter. It’s in very good repair and you can see when you look down the end of the piston and on the slave, there’s no slop. There’re no big gaps.
So, we’ve established that the barrel doesn’t have any scours in it.
