VRS 1 Vacuum Blasting Recovery System – Suction Blast

vacuum systems equipment buying guide

The VRS1 Vacuum Blaster System is ideal for smaller spot blasting and weld cleaning jobs. A very minimal amount of garnet/dust escapes into the air with this unit setup as the vacuum sucks the garnet back into the hopper after it impacts the substrate.

This VRS1 operates on a suction blast principle and does not reuse the abrasive, stopping any re-contaimination of the substrate.

Expected blasting production up to 1 m2 per hour.

Minimum air supply of 150cfm/100psi is required to run this unit. Higher cfm rates will mean bigger nozzle use and much more effective and efficient blasting.

VRS 2 Vacuum Blasting Recovery System – Pressure Blast

Blast and Vacuum Recovery System for using Virgin Abrasive for sale hire

BlastOne VRS2 is ideal for continuous dustless blasting of small to medium-sized areas. A very minimal amount of garnet/dust escapes into the air with this unit setup as the vacuum sucks the garnet back into the hopper after it impacts the substrate.

The VRS2 Uses a 1.0 cuft blast pot for high pressure blasting which has a capacity to hold 70kg of garnet. This Vacuum Blasting System does not reuse the abrasive, stopping any re-contaimination of the substrate.

Expected blasting production up to 3 m2 per hour.

Minimum air supply of 300cfm/100psi is required to run this unit. Higher cfm rates will mean bigger nozzle use and much more effective and efficient blasting.

VRS 3 Vacuum Blasting Recovery System – High Performance

Electric Skid Mounted Vacuum System - Vacuload Series 6 for sale hire

The VRS3 is built for Large Scale Production Vacuum Blasting, using a3.5 cuft blast pot with capacity to hold 230 kg of garnet. This means you have enough garnet to blast for an hour without stopping. The VRS3 Vacuum Blasting System does not recycle abrasive which his ideal when you have very low dusting requirements or when the specification calls for the use of virgin abrasive, to stop any recontamination of the surface.

Vacuum System, Blast Machine and the AirPrep  are all mounted onto one skid for ease of transport. The vacuum system has extendable legs, allowing a bulk bag to be placed under the abrasive waste shoot for easy disposal.

Expected blasting production up to 6 m2 per hour.

Minimum air supply of 670cfm/100psi is required to run this unit. Higher cfm rates will mean bigger nozzle use and much more effective and efficient blasting

Blast and Vacuum Work head Options

When you are looking to buy or rent a blast and vacuum system, you will also need to buy a workhead that joins the blasting into one spot with the vacuum. These workheads come in different styles and shapes, and have considerations that you want to think about. Here we are going to discuss a few of them, but to really learn more, contact one of our team, they are experts in advising what equipment will get your job done the safest and the fastest.

Large Blast and Vacuum workhead – this is the largest workhead available. This is best used on large flat surfaces where the wheels help to keep the head flush and sealed to the surface.

Standard Blast and Vacuum Work head – this is the typical blast and vac workhead that is used with most systems. It has the most flexibility and has changeable brushes to let you blast into corners – internal and external corners.

Right-Angled Blast and Vac work head – this is designed for when you need to get into tight spaces or under beams. This workhead has to use a smaller blast nozzle and rebound the abrasive to work, so your production rates will more then halve – so budget this in your project.

MiteyMite blast and Vac work head – This is for use with the small VRS 1 unit for suction blasting.

Piston Grip Blast and Vac – this works with the MiniBRS and is comfortable to hold when blasting.

Operating Insight

Man-handing the hoses when you are doing blast and vacuuming is not easy/quite cumbersome. We always recommend that you have someone holding the workhead and a helper holding the hoses. They can then switch tasks when the first operator gets tired.

Components you need to buy with a Blasting Recovery Vacuum System

When you hire a Blast and Vac System you are likely to also need to purchase the following.

TigerFlex Vacuum Hose

Tiger Flex Abrasive Vacuum Hose

TigerFlex is Heavy duty vacuum hose that has a smooth bore, but thick inner liner to give it a long lasting working life. It has crush resistant, spiral reinforcement ribs that keep it from collapsing, but is flexible enough to go around corners.

For hazardous lead paint removal projects, the vacuum hose must be purchased.

TigerFlex Vacuum Hose Sizes available include; 2”, 3”, 4”, 6”, 8”

UltraWeb Filters

Ultraweb Filtration dust collector Cartridge

Using good quality filters is very important when it comes to vacuum systems. It is the filter that collects all the dust, and is the part that has to be ultimately rated for lead if that’s what your project entails!
UltraWeb Filters used in our vacuum systems have a 99.95% efficiency ratio, which make them suitable for lead projects and hazardous dust containment, this is a Merv 10 rating.

For hazardous lead paint removal projects, the filters must be purchased and disposed of by the hirer.
