Unique Vacuum System Ordering Considerations

When you are looking to buy or rent a vacuum system, there are a few considerations that you’ll want to think about. A few will be discussed below, but to really learn more, contact one of our team members, they are experts in advising what equipment will get your job done the safest and the fastest.

Power Options – Compressed Air or Diesel Powered?

BlastOne has a range of different options available for hire, if your project will allow you to stop blasting and connect the compressed air hose up to the vacuum system, then an air-powered Vacuload is a good option for you. Some projects you just don’t have the ability to stop blasting before you start vacuuming, so you will want to have a diesel-powered vacuum system.

Another consideration is simply the amount of abrasive you need to vacuum. Diesel powered vacuum units have a high vacuuming capacity then the Vacuload IV.

Vacuum System Abrasive Recovery Capacity

  • Vacuload 1 – 2 tonne of garnet per hour
  • Vacuload IV – 5-8 tonne of garnet per hour
  • Vacuload 8 – 12 tonne of garnet per hour
  • VacMax600 – 15-20 tonne of garnet per hour

Other Components you need to buy with a Abrasive Recovery Vacuum System

When you hire a dust collector you are likely to also need to purchase the following:

TigerFlex Vacuum Hose

Tiger Flex Abrasive Vacuum Hose

TigerFlex is Heavy duty vacuum hose that has a smooth bore, but thick inner liner to give it a long lasting working life. It has crush resistant, spiral reinforcement ribs that keep it from collapsing, but is flexible enough to go around corners.

For hazardous lead paint removal projects, the vacuum hose must be purchased.

TigerFlex Vacuum Hose Sizes available include; 2”, 3”, 4”, 6”, 8”

UltraWeb Filters

Ultraweb Filtration dust collector Cartridge

Using good quality filters is very important when it comes to vacuum systems. It is the filter that collects all the dust, and is the part that has to be ultimately rated for lead if that’s what your project entails!
UltraWeb Filters used in our vacuum systems have a 99.95% efficiency ratio, which make them suitable for lead projects and hazardous dust containment, this is a Merv 10 rating.

For hazardous lead paint removal projects, the filters must be purchased and disposed of by the hirer.

Vacuum Pick-up Tools

vacuum systems equipment hose

Using a tool on the end of the vacuum hose will save your workers’ backs and make them far more efficient then just using the end of the vacuum hose on the ground. The vacuum tools also have air inlets to ensure that your abrasive continues to flow and not clog up the hose. BlastOne have 3 standard vacuum tools available for purchase or hire.

Bulk Pick-up Tool
Best used when you are vacuuming up large piles of abrasive that have been blown into a corner, or when vacuum loading a blast machine from a bulk bag.

Flared Pick-up Tool
This is like your broom, this is for sucking up the spent abrasive off the floor of a tank, ground or warehouse floor. Using a simple sweeping motion, the operator can make the project site look spotless and ready for paint.

Bulk Loading Hopper
This is the ideal tool when you are vacuum loading a pot out of bulk bags. You dump the bag into this hopper, connect up your vacuum hose and it takes all the hard work out of it!
